We stayed at the King's Inn for Comic-Con weekend and stopped by Waffle Spot after checking out on our last day. I had been looking forward to this place a lot! There was a quite a bit of folks waiting near the restaurant around 10:45am on a Sunday. We added ourselves to the Yelp waitlist and were 8th in line. By 11:00am we were promptly seated in a nice booth. Service is quick and friendly and the coffee hit the spot - fresh and hot. All the food we ordered was great and I was surprised the blueberry waffles used actual fresh blueberries, not frozen ones. My omelette was delicious and the ingredients were folded in. Just the way I like, compared to other joints that will sauté everything separately and just throw them in the middle of an egg pancake. We also received a discount as being hotel guests. I love the vibe of the diner and everything it has to offer. I would absolutely come back and stay at King's Inn as well!

Nice little old-fashioned café tucked away inside Kings Inn hotel. Old cafe with a Dia De Los Muertos decor. The menu was filled with many unique choices. I chose the waffle burger, which was two waffles and inside was a hamburger patty, bacon and a fried egg. It also came with waffle fries. It was a huge plate and a great value. We also tried the banana nut waffle platter, you can make any breakfast a platter and that just adds eggs and your choice of protein. The churro waffle is a must try! So good. Definite breakfast stop when in San Diego. Service was good.

I'm ordered the waffles benedict. The waffles were an interesting variation with the sweet being a nice compliment to the richness of the egg. However, the hollandaise was on the thicker side and flavor was underwhelming. Hash browns were okay but I prefer them more crisp. Fresh fruit was refreshing. On the plus side, the 50's style dinner vibe was nice and there was interesting stuff to keep the kids occupied. My wife had the French toast waffle and it was tasty. Good cinnamon and egg flavor on a sweet waffle. Kids ate their waffles and fried chicken so it must've been good. While my plate was underwhelming, it was an overall hit with the family.
